Professional Learning Plan

            My main professional learning goal is to learn more about how I can use technology to its fullest potential in the classroom. I am very interested in blended learning as well as elearning and would love to gain more knowledge on this subject and implement strategies in my classroom. I am also very interested in flipping the classroom as I believe that by learning this way students gain the most authentic and rich learning experiences.

 

            One professional goal that I have is to learn more about assessment and good assessment techniques. I would like to learn about test design and what methods of assessment are the most effective for students. I hope to design good assessments of student learning during my practice as a classroom teacher. I would like to learn more about and try different types of assessments, including those that include the use of technology. Through PD experiences and practice in the classroom, I hope to gain insights on which types of assessments allow for the most authentic representation of student learning.

 

            Another professional goal I have is to learn more about students with exceptionalities. I hope that learning more about this will allow me to better accommodate exceptionalities in my classroom. I can learn through doing, by working with students with exceptionalities on my practicum. I can also attend workshops and see what advice my host teacher has for me. I think that knowing how to accommodate students with exceptionalities is one of the most important things to learn as a teacher so I am very interested to learn all that I can about it.

            Since first creating these goals I have taken many steps towards achieving them. I have taken part in many AQ's and professional development opportunities in order to gain skills in the areas outlined above. Specifically, I have taken multiple AQ courses on the subject of technology in the classroom, including Integration of Technology, and Teaching and Learning Through e-Learning. I have participated in multiple PD days surrounding assessment best practices through my LTO experiences. I have also completed the Special Education Part 1 AQ in order to gain knowledge and skills on teaching students with IEPs and exceptionalities. I hope to continue this learning though many more professional development opportunities.
